In the age of Vaudeville, when a performer went on far too long, management would literally pull them off stage with a long giant hook.

Not a bad idea for today's presenters.

That's a great image to keep in your mind the next time you give a speech or presentation. 

No matter if it is internal to a small group of colleagues or external to a huge audience, listeners want quality messages in as succinct a way as possible.

Especially in an age of Twitter and instant gratification, going on and and on is just not going to garner audience approval. Make your point and then move on.

Stay tight. Stay on message, cut the endless details, and make "Less is More" your presentation mantra.
